Packing Instructions

Proper Storage of the Sinar F Monorail Large Format Camera in its flight case:

  1. Set both front and rear standards to 'normal' position (ie. standard height and zero tilt).
  2. Remove the bellows completely from the camera and place at the bottom of the case in the middle.
  3. Move the front and rear standards of the camera to the maximum extension at the very ends of the rail.
  4. Use the fine focus knob to move the rear standard to the end of its travel, so the two standards are as far away from each other as possible.
  5. Lower the rear standard to the minimum height.
  6. Tilt rear standard containing the viewing screen forward until it is horizontal and lock it in place.
  7. Tilt front standard backwards until it is horizontal and lock it in place.
  8. Take the camera off the rail clamp.
  9. Put the camera in the case with the lens to the bottom, so that the lens board rests on the bellows and the lens is protected.
  10. Fold up the dark cloth and place it on top of the rail.
  11. Put the film holders horizontally into the side compartment.
  12. Place the rail clamp upside down in the side compartment.

The case lid should close without putting pressure on the camera. If it doesn't, you may need to re-adjust the height of the standards on the camera or check that there aren't items in the pockets causing an obstruction.
